4 Ways to Nix Pain and Fix Your Posture

Over the years we've advanced technology to the point where you could have a stranger deliver coffee and a pack of gum from the gas station down the road, while you sit reclined in a lazy-boy watching your nephew's hockey game via Skype. Makes being a shut-in seem glamorous, right? There are many positives to the “instant era”, however,  we lose some things along the way if we're not careful. With new technology comes new movement patterns, and with new movement patterns comes imbalanced muscles and irritated joints. 20 years ago there weren’t cell phones or iPads, and people were spending a lot less money to get out of pain. Here's 4 cheaper ways to nix pain and fix your posture.

Why Your Ab Workout Doesn't Work and 4 Ways to Fix It

"Everyone is wasting their time at the gym doing all these stupid things." That's exactly what my friend and colleague Dr. Nate Weber told me while explaining why everyone's ab workouts were not, well, working out. He gave some advice to keep your six-pack quest going in the right direction, but it had a lot of curse words so I rephrased it to make sure you weren't offended. I'm sure if you buy him a beer, you could hear the entire R-rated rant about washboard abs.

Why your ab workout doesn't work:

There's a chance you've been trying to mix up your ab workout with super fast crunches, fancy side to side twisting, or just as many sit-ups as you can possibly handle. BUT, there's a chance...

5 Things I Learned from Exercising Every Day For a Year

That's right. 365 days in a row. An entire YEAR of working out every day. No breaks.

It started as a New Years resolution I made on a whim. "I'm going to work out every day this year." That's what I told my husband, who's extremely competitive and thrives on routine. So he responded, "Me too." I laughed, because my first thought was -- no way. He'll never make it. I might not even make it... I was wrong.

5 Natural Ways to Prevent a Massive NYE Hangover

5 Natural Ways to Prevent a Massive NYE Hangover

Because you've unwrapped your presents, it feels like the holidays have finally wrapped up. Not so fast, kid. You're still a few days from the last holiday of the year.

Personally, 2015 was a little busy for me and I'm excited to bid farewell to such a wonderfully hectic year. I'm telling the universe to bring me abundance in the most calm and relaxing way possible. (Here's hoping the universe listens.) But before I say goodbye, I have a good old fashioned party to go to on December 31st. My dress is picked out, already sitting by my shiny pumps and jewelry. So bring it on, NYE!

Just one little catch... I'd like to naturally prevent the first massive hangover of 2016.

Empathy and Connection: How to Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable

Let's get awkward. Let's talk about your relationship with food, and mental health. Do you feel uncomfortable yet? Good.

For me, talking about mental health is like talking about the weather or why I love puppies. I’m so ready to discuss the connection between wellness and food that I often forget how uncomfortable it can make others. These two topics can make people so uneasy you’d think I'd started asking questions about poop! (I might at some point, but I don't typically open with that.) Is mental health uncomfortable because we don't understand how it's correlated with our food? What does nutrition have to do with mental health?

Teenage Mood Swings: Can We Blame Karma or Nutrition?

I don’t have teenagers…yet. And if karma exists at all, I’m terrified for when I do have teens.

Currently, I have a 3-year-old, and quite frankly she could hold a candle to any teen if we’re talkin’ tantrums and mood swings.  I still find myself shocked at the Jekyll-and-Hyde vibes this toddler throws at me. The world’s cutest, sweetest, blonde babe becomes the most insane, hostile, “I’m moving out!”, maniac. In 3 seconds flat.
